DAILY WRITING

Day 5
For a long time I looked up at the verse on the wall and simply hummed the song it goes with.
‘This is the day, this is the day, that The Lord has made, that The Lord has made. Let us rejoice, let us rejoice, and be glad in it, and be glad in it.’
It wasn’t until one morning when I was looking up at the verse on the wall that I really realised what it was actually saying.
Psalm 118:24 says ‘This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.’ (NLT)
It’s saying that God made this day, and we’ll be glad, we’ll be happy, in it. If you’re worried about what’s going to happen today, just be glad that you have another day of living. Even if you’ve been really stressed this week, still thank God for the day that you’re about to have.
Did you know that it’s not what happens that makes you react a certain way, it’s the way you feel about the thing that happens that makes you react a certain way? So let’s just say you’re running late for school/work, and you throw a tantrum. It’s not the fact that you’re running late that makes you throw the tantrum, it’s the fact that you feel frustrated by the fact that you’re running late, that you throw the tantrum (don’t worry if this isn’t making any sense).
So basically, what I’m trying to say is that no matter what, if something happens that you don’t really like, if you react in saying that ‘No, that’s not going to ruin my day. I’m still going to thank God for the things that are good’ instead of ‘Gee that really ruined my day. Nothing good happens in my life’ you will be pleasing God and having a better attitude toward the day He’s blessed you with.
Deuteronomy 26:11 says ‘Afterward you may go and celebrate because of all the good things The Lord your God has given to you and your household.’
So today, instead of complaining because things just don’t seem to be going your way, thank God for what He’s blessed you with. Don’t just look at the verse and hum the song you learned in Sunday School, but really look at it, and decide for yourself if you are going to thank God no matter what the circumstances.
